Welcome to the Website of Ostrůvek Children’s Centre

Ostrůvek Children’s Centre, contributory organisation of the Olomouc Region, is a successor organisation of consolidated children’s centres, Pavučinka Šumperk and Ostrůvek Olomouc, founded on 1 January 2015.

The centre provides medical and social-legal services, including sustenance, to children taken care of there. The total capacity is 50 beds, thereof 12 intended for children who require immediate assistance.

Comprehensive care is provided to the children from the first days of their life usually until the age of 3. It is based on the current level of knowledge in the respective fields, while respecting the child’s individuality and providing optimal, overall development to them. Specialist care of children who cannot grow up in a family environment includes medical, nursing, psychological, physiotherapeutic, educational and social care.

On the basis of a medical indication, a child can be admitted for specialist medical after-care or respite care directly from neonatology and paediatric departments of hospitals but also by request of a child’s legal representative or curator.

The child’s stay in our centre is limited to a period of time indispensable for resolving the situation, due to which the child is admitted. Siblings are accommodated together. Accommodation is also provided to the child’s attendant (usually a legal representative).
